Hello Everyone,
for those of you who have not yet met me the following information I hope will give you some insight into the persona who is Myrdhinn...
Firstly Myrdhinn is a the Welsh way of saying Merlin or so I have been told, having long been a fan of Arthurian Legend when I first started using the Internet I was not involved in business on-line I was more interested in meeting other people and pursuing my hobby of reading and collecting information and things involved around Fantasy.
I frequented most of the Medieval and Fantasy websites online and was an active member for many years of The Palace an incredible interactive world where you could create an Avatar to suit your personality.
However those days are long gone but the name of Myrdhinn remained and so I continue to use that whenever I can.
I live on the Central Coast of NSW with my partner Robyn and our little Chihuahua called Tiny.
I have been involved with the Internet since the early days before the World Wide Web developed as it is today, when we used text and had to have an understanding of the UNIX system in order to use it.
My introduction goes back before even the Internet however, as I also used to run a BBS in Sydney in the late 70's early 80's. For those who do not know what a BBS is that was a Bulletin Board System and you setup a computer with the BBS software that allowed other people to dial in via their modem at very slow speeds I might add to access messages, simple on-line games and download files or programs for their computers.
I ran the first Spitfire BBS Software in Australia you can look up information about Spitfire on the Internet still today. It was a program written by a chap called Mike Woltz and his company was Buffalo Creek Software, I miss those early days there seemed more interaction between people who accessed your BBS.
The transition for me to the Internet was a big difference at first I felt that I was all alone on the Internet and isolated, I wasn't really but the interaction didn't really get started until the WWW became a reality.
Eventually I found that I needed to start finding a way to make money from being on-line so the transition from Fantasy to Business began. I still have a soft spot for Fantasy and I do admit at times checking out some of my favorite authors websites. I also have my own poetry site but have not done much with that for years, who knows maybe one day I will re-incarnate it and again dwell in the land of dragons and myth.
I am actively involved in my local community being the Director of a Variety Group that produce Annual Productions for the Local Senior Citizens Club.
Well I have bored you all enough for now so I will finish here and leave the floor open to other members to share their stories with us, who knows I may come back again at some stage and share some more of my stories.
Ray (Myrdhinn) |
